I've been drawing since the 8th grade with seriousness toward it, but I have always loved to draw and color as a child. Now that I am in college, I consider myself a pro, but as anyone knows, you never stop learning. I love getting to try my hand with something new. I haven't quite conquered portraits, yet, but little else gives me trouble when I put it on paper. Friends and family are always giving me challenges... "draw this" or "draw that." But before and above all else I am a science fiction and fantasy artist.
Over my career as an artist, I have won awards and made a bit of money at it. I have done ads for teh New Mexico Parks and recreation department and a fence placard for a local company. My talents have been on loan time and again to the local college library's display case. I recently received the honor of attending the Call for Papers conference in Houston, Texas in April of 1999 to give a 15-minute presentation on "Fantasy Art" and show a group of 10 of my oil paintings. I am always receiving requests for my work ranging from tattoos to paintings and drawings.
I have played with many kinds of medium for my art, including stained glass and pottery, but I always return to my pencils and pens. In my opinion, oil paints have no equal for color and workability. I love to play with color...mixing and m atching with some unusual results from time to time.
If it isn't obvious already, I love horses, robots (particularly Transformers of which I have an extensive collection, but I am not unwilling to create my own machines), cats and dragons. There is no end to the piles of these in my drawing stashes. Then I love to read, and I collect comics (X-men are the best titles, but any are worthy of a look if the art is good).
I also write and am a publihed poet. I am hardly a pro at this, but I enjoy it none the less. I have been writing a science fiction novel, and I also enjoy writing up short fictions and fan fictions.
